U8 Youth Academy
In our youngest age of travel soccer the focus is on creating a fun environment for players to learn, develop good ball skills and become more creative on the ball. Confidence is built up by positive reinforcement and players are guided into playing with the freedom to make a mistake and learn.
Players practice twice a week as a pool (group). By keeping a pool of players and splitting into different teams each weekend and not having set teams it gives the coaches the opportunity to focus on long term development vs. the short term team winning mentality.
An optional third session a week of free play 4v4 soccer, called ‘Street Soccer’ is also offered to this age group. ‘Street Soccer’ is supervised but not coached as players are encouraged to use the skills they have been working on in practice and try new things in a pickup game environment.
Match situations will be in a 6v6 format with 1 goalkeeper and 5 field players for each team but some 4v4 games will also take place as they improve each player’s touches on the ball.
Highly qualified training staff who use the guided discovery coaching method will work with this age group. The guided discovery method helps players become better problem solvers and builds leadership qualities leading to a much more rounded and improved player.
